From time to time, customers ask for calibration procedures for molding machines.  They value verification of guage pressures and thermocouples and timers.  We question the value of this exercise given modern equipment, electric machines, and the reality that 80% of the melt heat results from friction and not from heater bands.

How many of you calibrate your machines and how have you handled this issue with your customers?  Have you found value in calibration?
