Plastic Industry Forum - Converse with Plastics Processing Leaders / Equipment / 200 Ton Batenfeld Vertical Vertical--anyone have one?

We have a relatively new Battenfeld 200 ton Vertical Vertical machine and are having constant reliability problems with it. Does anyone else have one, and if so, has it performed well, or do you have continuous maintenance problems? It has less than 18 months usage on it. Battenfeld Sales tells me there are all kinds of them out there, but their technicians say that it is custom built. Can anyone tell me if they have one?

Jill, I just sent out a request for help to get you some input.  I hope somebody can provide some assistance to you.

I have Battenfeld verticals from early 2000 with the 1020 controllers and we have very few problems with them. Call me if you would like to discuss. 727-572-6318. Battenfeld technical service has always been very helpful to me.

We have a 220 ton Battenfeld rotary table, horizontal injection which I believe is a 2000 model year. We also have had reliability issues with it. Battenfeld service seems to act with dread any time we call about it. It appears that the software was adapted from a horizontal clamp press which seems to complicate matters.

Thank-you to Jim and Darryl. The biggest concern that I currently have is with the Rotary Table. It just stops and won't restart, and sometimes it chatters and skips. The technicians from Battenfeld have warned that we are facing an imminent failure, but they need to do exploratory surgery to see what is wrong. Has anyone had problems with the Rotary Table. The table on this machine is not standard, but is the largest table that was available. I am concerned that it was under-engineered. Any comments are welcome.

Table indexing problems have been a big part of the trouble we have been having. We had some success slowing the rotation speed of the table, however it is counter productive (lengthens cycle).

Thanks Jim. Is yours a standard size table, or oversized? I think they come in 60" and 70" approximately, and we have the 70". We have also had better luck when we slow down the cycle also, but we completely agree that slower cycle is counter productive.
