Manufacturing / Quality Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing / Quality Engineer in our Plastic Injection Molding Division. The function will play an active role in our Quality Department and on our production floor driving projects and implementing solutions in order to improve production efficiencies and product quality levels. Primary duties include: managing continuous improvement projects related to quality deficiencies, problematic tooling and/or production inefficiencies; Coordinating internal and external customer interaction related to corrective actions and problem solving; Supporting new product introductions via APQP, FAI, and PPAP support; Analyzing data and collecting, reporting and managing the improvement of key performance indicators/operational metrics; Assisting with quality and process audits to support QMS development and ongoing registration to ISO 9001; and Performing manufacturing and/or quality related activities and support tasks as needed (e.g., time studies, rework coordination, capability studies, run-at-rate studies; customer requested part inspections; etc.).
Interested candidates should have an Engineering degree or equivalent and at least 3 - 5 years of hands-on production and/or quality engineering experience in a fast paced injection molding environment. Candidates should also have a sound knowledge of precision tooling, familiarity with metrology and the application of quality techniques used in manufacturing environment (first article inspection, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, process flow diagrams, control plans, GD&T; Gage R&R, statistical process control techniques, etc.) and strong computer skills. Experience with plastics engineering principles, lean manufacturing practices and CQE certification is preferred. A take charge attitude with sound decision making abilities, independent work ethic and strong written / oral communication skills to support internal and external customer contact are also required. In addition, the position will require an individual who can organize his/her own work, set priorities to manage multiple projects and meet time deadlines in a systems driven environment, and use initiative and independent judgment to bring projects to completion in an efficient and cost effective manner. The ability to cooperate with others and work as a member of a team in a dynamic and fast paced work environment is essential.
