Dear MAPP Members:

I am posting this on behalf of several executives in the MAPP organization:

Has anyone taken a proactive stance within their organization to have a formal concealed carry policy to arm specific employees in case of an active shooter situation?

If so, would you mind sharing the details with me so that we can create a document and make available to Members who are looking for guidance in this area?

Troy - my father Van Harp retired Assistant Director of FBI and retired Head of Corporate Security for Corning Inc started a company Harp & Associates that will come conduct Facility Audit for Security and provide Active Shooter Training for employees and Organizations.  His company employs retired Agents and Police Chiefs...they know their stuff.

Let me know if you want an introduction.

We have not formulated a policy yet.  I have thought about it and like the concept.  We have had 2 separate incidents of verbal threats involving firearms that were fortunately dealt with by our local law enforcement.  Several of our employees are permit holders and we have a certified trainer in our maintenance department.  We may host a training class for employees and encourage them to get their permit.  I am a strong supporter of our 2nd Amendment rights HOWEVER, I'm sure my attorney will have an (expensive) opinion as to the potential liability issues.  I'll keep you posted.
