This position has responsibility for the management of all members in Engineering, Maintenance, Automation and Tooling functions at TASUS Florence, Alabama. Manages a team that focuses on manufacturing engineering activities including processes and systems (including advanced) associated with the production of TASUS’ products. Supports the injection molding operations through hands on floor support activities. Responsible for developing the people, processes, and procedures used in our injection molding operations. Works within the standards set forth by ISO/TS16949, customer specifications and timelines.
TASUS operates following the principles established by the Toyota Production System.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing plant layout of facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space and efficiency. Provides cost estimations for equipment, schedules and documents new equipment, reviews drawings and technical documents, and establishes/implements engineering documentation standards.Manages and prioritizes capital and expense projects, tracks and analyzes anticipated versus actual expenditures.Work with production operations team for efficient tooling and maintenance support, recommend process and/or design improvements, and research, develop, and implement product improvement plans.Provides forecasting and planning and monitoring of efficiency and execution of account strategies. Works with all departments to coordinate efforts to analyze costs and price variances.
Participates in contract negotiations and helps develop long-term agreements on processes, charges, etc. Provides performance reporting and analysis for monthly operations reviews and quarterly customer performance reviews. Analyzes performance relative to targets. Develops and implements plans to address problem areas.
Provides the leadership necessary for supporting and participating in a continuous improvement work environment.
Degree in engineering (preferred) and/or equivalent experience.
5+ years management experience. Automotive experience strongly preferred.
Proficient in the use of PC-based software such as word processing, spreadsheets and Microsoft Project.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in injection molding.
Strong knowledge of tooling, plastic and mold design required.
CAD knowledge and experience preferred.
Lean manufacturing and project management experience.
General business and accounting acumen.
Must be a hands-on Engineering Manager.
Strong knowledge and application of problem solving techniques (Kazan, root cause analysis, etc.).
Proven leadership, team building and collaborative skills.
Effective oral and written communications.
