The primary role of the Quality Manager is to promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization. Provides leadership and focus in all aspects of Quality at TASUS Florence, Alabama. The Quality Manager is the management representative working with operations, outside customers and all other departments in order to guide and direct the activities necessary to meet and exceed the standards of quality in accordance with ISO 9001, TS16949, or other designated quality systems. TASUS operates following the principles established by the Toyota Production System.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing Quality team members. Establishes performance criteria for the team and pursues excellence in team members through recruiting, coaching and counseling, training and succession planning.
Assesses current quality systems and recommends improvements in order to enhance quality, to promote continuous improvement and to promote a pro-active quality culture.
Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
Meets quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Develops quality assurance plans and reports by conducting hazard analyses; establishing critical limits, identifying critical control points and preventive measures; interacting with production employees; collaborating with operations, engineering, and other quality team members within TASUS; monitoring procedures, and establishing corrective action protocol.
Validates quality processes by: establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; conducting audits, and documenting observations. Writes and updates quality assurance procedures as necessary to address processes and operational behaviors both reactionary and proactive that ensure superior customer quality.
Coordinates and works closely with Product Engineering department in support of current and new product development.
Develops and maintains a supplier quality index program using statistical controls to assure that only high quality vendors are retained.
Updates job knowledge by studying trends and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Preferred).
Experience in plastic injection molding strongly preferred.
Five to Eight years + experience in Automotive Quality Assurance.
Three years or more of management experience.
Continuous improvement processes (Six Sigma, Kaizen Lean etc.).
Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
Proven experience in people management, project management, strategic planning, risk management.
Must possess strong decision making and problem solving skills including the ability to diagnose and solve problems while exhibiting independent judgment and realistic understanding of the issue involved.
TS/ISO Certification Experience.
Proficient in MS Office. Strong MS Project experience a plus.
Able and willing to travel when required for the company.
