Dorel Juvenile US is looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our team at our Columbus, IN manufacturing facility. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and fostering a continuous improvement environment. The role of this position will include streamlining processes, assembly lines, and work flow; identifying and implement efficiencies. This role will incorporate 5S, problem solving tools and methods, supply chain, safety, ergonomics, design engineering, human resources, as well as multiple other disciplines to ensure high quality outcome and maximize productivity.
As a member of the operational excellence team, this is a highly collaborative role and will partner with cross functional teams including design engineering, purchasing, quality, production management, and production operators to accomplish workstation optimization goals, 5S initiatives, A3s, and Kaizen events and other lean initiatives.
The Continuous Improvement Engineer utilizes engineering expertise to interact with and support cross functional teams in identification of improvement ideas. This position must be comfortable gathering and analyzing data to investigate and troubleshoot issues, formulate identified opportunities into actionable project concepts and plans, and lead teams through project completion.
• Managing the 5S and A3 processes
• Eliminating Waste and Driving Continuous Improvements
• Conducting Kaizens and promoting the Kaizen Culture
• Performing Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving
• Establishing Standards and Driving Changes
• Implementing or Improving Processes for Productivity Gains
• Performing Product Costing Analysis
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial engineering or other related technical discipline required. Must have 2+ years experience in an engineering role in the consumer products industry. Prior experience with plastic molding, metal fabrication, fabric manufacturing and related assembly/test methods preferred. Successful individual must be highly organized and possess ability to maintain scheduled deliverables. Technical aptitude to understand standards, requirements, and test requests and results for Juvenile products. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge and experience managing and working with databases. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. A positive team player a must!
