Plastic Industry Forum - Converse with Plastics Processing Leaders / Business / Safety Shoes- Are all employees in the company required to wear them?
Posted:  07 Feb 2017 21:07
At our company we require anyone working or walking on the production floor to be wearing safety shoes.

Years back we only required process techs, maintenance, shipping/receiving and tool room to wear safety shoes. We did not require everyone that worked on the production floor to wear them.

I'm just wondering what other injection molders require and if office personnel, customers, and visitors are required to wear safety shoes when walking through the plant.

Hi Trisha -

I wanted to let you know that at a recent plant tour event, we did a quick benchmarking for you to find out what other members were doing.

Out of the 14 companies who participated, 13 did not require safety shoes on the production floor. The 1 company that does require it, also requires all office personnel, customers and visitors to wear safety shoes as well.

I hope this is helpful!

Best,

MAPP Team

We do not require safety shoes in our plant. Closed toe shoes are a requirement.

We are an extruder, but we require all employees to wear safety shoes on the production floor. For visitors we provide toe caps at the main entrance of the plant.
