Hello,

We have a number of family molds running LH/RH parts that are similar to each other and easy to mix but cannot be run with automation due to low volumes. Does anybody have any solutions that work well and that can prevent operators from mixing parts?

Please advise.
Thank you.

Hi Monika.  What we do in this situation is simply have a nest/fixture in front of the operator that a spot for each RH and LH part.  The operator must place the correct hand part on the fixture, then into the box.  Granted this is not fail safe 100% but we found that it works better than expected with very little mixed parts.

We have set up the mold so the family mold parts fall L/R using a chute below the mold opening area. It works pretty consistently if the part geometry is good.
