Job Summary:

The process technician’s mission is to properly set-up, start-up and optimize plastic injection molds on PMT’s production floor, using established procedures and standards to ensure no damage to the mold occurs and a quality part is produced. The process technician works under the supervision of the Production Department Shift Leader.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Follows the Molding Technician Manual
Performs Mold Set-Ups using the designated checklist format
Job removal & line clearance prior to Mold Set-Up
Enters Tool Maintenance work orders into PMT’s IQMS ERP system
Completes machine cleaning 5S procedure and delegates daily 5S duties to Operators & Material Handlers
Fully understands the workflow of Production work orders and the instructions for Mold Set-Up according to the Process Set-Up Guide (PSG)
Enforces start-up and re-start procedures
Explains instructions to Operators, working closely with the Lead Operator
Performs process troubleshooting


High School Diploma/GED certification
On-the-job training
Prior Mold Set-Up experience
Demonstrated track record as a leader and problem-solver
Blueprint reading & standard metrology knowledge
Ability to use measuring instruments

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to work with molding machine operators, as well as with molding machinery and molds
Full understanding of instructions and visual aids in the Molding Technician Manual
Demonstrated knowledge of job-specfic tools, including molding machine controllers, moisture analyzers, etc.
Strong safety skills, including an understanding of Lock Out/TagOut (LOTO)

Level l: Entry level On-the-job training
Level 2: Paulson Courses
Level 3: Written Test
Required Paulson Injection Molding Courses (offered in-house):

Basic Injection Molding 1 & 2
Practical Injection Molding 1 – 5
Practical Injection Molding Advanced 1 – 4
Optimize machine Control Settings 1 – 4
Statistical Process Control 1 – 3
Plastic Drying Technology 1 & 2
Efficient Mold Settings 1 & 2
