Plastic Industry Forum - Converse with Plastics Processing Leaders / Business / Milacron Proportional Valve failure Question
Posted:  10 Jul 2008 15:27
Dear Maintenance and Engineeering Professionals of MAPP:

I am having issues with the the MM Series Milacron Presses.

We have had several failures on a Hydraulic Prop. Valves on these machines.  The valve is a Bosch Rexroth Prop valve.  The stack valves have the  following numbers: One valve # starts with 4WRAP6 and the other starts with # 4WRKE25R5.

The Milacron Part # is 5073286 13, the description is VLV, PRP NG25.

Has anyone else with these machines had failure problems with this valve?

We have it failing on the MM880, MM580, MM450 and MM310 Milacron size presses.  (All the presses take the same valve to control the clamp motion.)

If anybody can clue me in as to why these vavles are failing it would be greatly appreciated.  I will take any information and resources you have to offer.

Very Sincerely,

Mark Hoffmeier

In addition to the above, It appears that our failures are mostly in the electronics controls on the Proportional valve, and on occasion, we are seeing a failure on the Pilot valve. We have a very good oil analysis program and we have good oil and excellent filtering, with no Heat issues on the oil.
Thanks
